The Masters of Ceremony's debut single, Crime, arrived that same year, followed in 1986 by the more successful 12s Sexy and Cracked Out, both produced by Jazzy Jay. With the bulk of the production handled by Grand Puba, their Dynamite 1988 LP was a commercial disappointment, though it was regarded highly among N. hip-hop collectors at the time. A few more 12s, including the album title cut and Master Move, were released before the group eventually disbanded that same year. In 2005, Jazzy Jay had Dynamite remastered, and he re. This record is a historic footnote from 1985, one of them "before" projects. Featuring Teddy Riley (before New Jack Swing), Rocky Bucano (not yet allied with Jazzy Jay), and a young Maxwell "Grand Puba Maxwell" Dixon (before Brand Nubian). Recorded downtown at Unique, for a label uptown in the Bronx, and very likely the first rap record from way uptown in Westchester County NY. Like Brand Nubian, Masters Of Ceremony hailed from New Rochelle NY (aka Now Rule), before it became known as New-Ro or New Rock, and before Pete Rock & CL Smooth, Heavy D, Sean Combs, A.D.O.R., Al B Sure, DMX, Mary J. Blige, The Lox, or any of the other artists to come from the county just north of the Bronx. Seminal to say the least.
